Magherabeg is a blue flag beach for 2019 located 3.4 km North of Castlegregory Village. A walk of 40 minutes, cycle 10 minutes or car 6 minutes will get you here. Suitable for families this beach has it all, with numerous water sports run by professional operators. Lifeguards are on duty during the busy summer months. A shop and fast food restaurant are across the road in Sandy Bay Caravan Park. Portable toilet facilities are available on the beach. Water World and Splash World operate numerous water sport activities from this beach. A hive of activity during the busy summer season.
Blue Flag is an award based on strict international standards given to sites (including beaches) which adhere to certain criteria under the headings of Environmental Information and Education, Water quality, Safety and Services and Environmental Management.
The Blue Flag award is granted for only one year at a time and must be earned annually.
Visitors to Blue Flag Beaches in Kerry in 2019 can be assured that the water quality is very good and that there are an adequate number of qualified lifeguards on duty at specifies times and that there are other safety procedures in operation.
